La jupe si simple qu'elle est brillante. Je trouve parfois les jupes trop difficiles à mon goût, c'est pourquoi j'ai créé la version la plus épurée de ce vêtement, ni moins ni plus que exactement ce dont j'avais besoin. Il a suffisamment de longueur pour montrer une certaine jambe mais offre également une couverture modeste, un ourlet généreux pour ajouter du poids et du corps au tissu, et juste assez de fronces pour ajouter de l'ampleur et du mouvement au niveau de la hanche sans devenir volumineux à la taille.
Les poches intérieures profondes et élégantes offrent beaucoup d'espace pour ranger les bricoles ainsi qu'un endroit pour garder vos mains occupées (nous savons tous à quel point les poches sont utiles pour ceux d'entre nous qui ont besoin d'un endroit où mettre leurs mains !). This is my first time seeing a skirt and I was pleasantly surprised at how easy the pattern was to follow. I love the pockets and how the elastic can be serged to the fabric. I made this skirt using a ripped linen bedsheet so intended for it to just be a “trial run,” but I ended up loving it so much that I wore it out for 2 days straight. I’m looking forward to making another linen and a washable silk version!

Why pay for what looks like a super basic gathered elastic waist skirt? The POCKETS!!! Seriously this is a very interesting construction method that results in the best looking on-seam pockets that I have ever made. I took about 9 inches off the length since I prefer a true just below the knee midi length, and also because that's what I could get out of the amount of fabric left over from another project. A+ will make again.
I have been sewing since childhood but only recently started sewing clothes for myself. This skirt was my first ever skirt and also the first time I followed written instructions and not a step by step video tutorial. I enjoyed the process so much! I made a mistake somewhere in the process of sewing the pocket bags to the skirt body but I was able to improvise my way through the process and the final result is identical to the pattern picture. I have the fabric for the next two skirts already cut and ready to go, I highly recommend this pattern.
Finally writing my review, as I’ve had my pattern pieces cut for months and just got around to sewing it today. This is my first make of a skirt and I was a little intimidated by the pocket instructions, but they were so thoroughly explained that taking it step by step worked out perfectly. This skirt is going to be a staple in my wardrobe.
It's such a great pattern! Perfect shape. Feels swishy but also clean and contemporary. I made it in the ES line gauze and it's such a soft and breathable garment. I didn't add the pockets as I don't generally include them in skirts, I feel they add too much bulk at the hips – I appreciated that the instructions give you the option of skipping straight to the step after the pockets. I also made a waistband casing for the elastic as I don't find sewing the elastic to the fabric while stretching it out very fun, it's also impossible to change or amend the elastic if it's too tight or loose. Will be making more Bel skirts for sure, it's the design that drew me to ES in the first place and I was so happy when they released the pattern.
I loved the finished skirt and can’t wait to make more in different fabrics for every occasion. The waistband insertion was frustrating with trying to topstitch it down. It gave neat finish in the end but I probably would have preferred the casing method.
I was very pleased with how this skirt fits and looks. The instructions were great, the pockets are lovely and the shape is perfect. It is extremely comfortable and easy to wear.
This was the perfect pattern for me to sew to get back to the craft after an ~8 month hiatus. The instructions were impeccable and I am still awed by the perfect inset pockets! I am also delighted that the length is longer than I expected. I wound up still lengthening it by about an inch, but it all worked out really well. The icing on the cake is that I sewed it using your midweight linen and it is exceptionally comfortable but still chic.
Fabulous pattern! Ingenious and beautiful pocket construction: had to read the instructions about 20 times but nearly wept with joy at the way they came together … just enough fabric to give the right amount of swing to it without being bulky … lovely deep hem … perfectly balanced … very classy garment indeed … will be making more of these … off to make Florence trousers now with Bel pockets … and please can we have a pattern for Clyde culottes?
I'm an intermediate sewer and for my level this pattern was a little challenging. I messed up the pockets and had to assemble them in away that was more intuitive for me. I had the most trouble with folding over the waistband, stitching, and getting a nice result. Eventually, I gave up and made an attached waistband that gave me more control to arrange the gathers in a flattering manor. It was a great learning project and like my final result very much.
Versatile and easy pattern
I love this new pattern from Elizabeth Suzann - especially the pockets. These are great pockets - large, and so far things don't fall out easily. I also like the 3" hem - it adds substance. The waist is nice too, although it is quite a bit of work to change it out if you want to take in or let out the elastic; I think on my next skirt I'll make a casing. The overall length is a bit long - I'm 5'5" and took off about 3". I made this out of a medium-heavy weight linen and love it. I think I've worn it almost every day since it was finished.
It's just the type of skirt I was looking for.

Really easy to follow instructions. Great pocket fitting. My only suggestions would be markings for height variations as you have in your other patterns, or at least a recommended line of where to make changes.
