Clyde Work Pant Digital Sewing Pattern

Beautiful and functional design. I LOVE these pants so much! Working in a medical setting and being a mom, Clyde pants are the best. They are comfortable, large pockets, and stylish. Now my little boy wants a pair, too to put all his little cars and Legos. Thank you for sharing your patterns. I'm currently saving up for some of your handmade clothings, especially silk 💛

I'm very very novice and ended up with a totally wearable pair of pants (though in many more hours than the five I had read somewhere it's supposed to take)--so overall I'm happy! They're a tad snug because I had a hell of a time figuring out how to align and sew together all the crotch panels, so I ended up semi-inadvertently eliminating like a square-inch patch of fabric down there, whoops. I did choose the short model, but these are really REALLY short! I ended up not doing the final bottom hem fold to buy back 1 1/4" of length, and even so they're practically capris.

My super experienced sewist mom was puzzled by a few things, so I thought I'd put them here:
- Why do a sewn-in waistband elastic rather than the kind that you just insert into the waistband fabric loop? My waistband feels and looks rather chunky, and she thinks the three parallel lines of top stitching along the elastic possibly exacerbates it.
- Why sew and finish the bottom hems of the leg openings before the sides? In the order proposed, there's a very real chance that you'll end up with an uneven bottom hem, if for some reason your leg panels don't all meet up exactly at the bottom (mine were thankfully almost perfect but still). If done in the opposite order, like my mom says is generally the norm, doing the bottom hem last would mitigate that kind of imperfection.

I'll sew these again, possibly one size bigger, and in regular length instead of cropped, and see if I end up with a five star pair of pants!

I like the pattern and love the pockets - they are front and back pockets in one. I can casually put my hands in the front pockets like any pair of pants. I made them in an 8.5 oz cotton. I realized that next time would go one size smaller. I made a drawstring and that works to cinch them in. I will definitely make again - maybe the Clyde overalls.

Very clear instructions with great diagrams! My canvas Clyde work pants from ES (fit to standing body measurements) are somewhat narrow in the hips/calves while sitting, so I chose to size up to accommodate some extra ease in those areas. The pattern recommends fabric without stretch, but I was able to use a 95% cotton canvas with a slight amount of stretch, which sewed up very nicely!

I loved every bit of sewing this, from the beautifully formatted and clearly written instructions, to the fit and comfort of the end result. The size and inseam options are the most inclusive I’ve seen. And for real, those pockets! Perfection!

I was partially in between two sizes, so I sized up. However, it was HUGE. I'm considering ripping the seams, recutting, and resewing the entire garment.

I also wish that all sizes were printed on the same PDF. I would have cut in between as 12 and 14 (12 waist, 14 leg), but since they're on different documents, I didn't have the option to do that.

I love these pants, very handsome with the crescent shaped pockets. Also love the tall option, makes the fit so comfortable in the rise and the length for me at 178cm. I was very proud of myself sewing such a multi panel design, but the instructions made it so easy to follow. My first pants ever!

I am however eagerly awaiting the revision to address the cut being too tight in the calf. I made the size to fit my measurements (in olive green) and loved them but they started splitting at the seams in the calf when I sat on the floor. Looked great standing but not practical for me to restrict movement like this so I made some adjustments and gave them to my mum who prefers not to sit on the floor anyway. Guess it could still work as a dress pant? I have a friend who wears them when she’s working at her standing desk but not for sitting all day or bike commute.

Next I made the size up (in blue) and I think they unfortunately look too baggy. If I was a more skilled sewer I guess I could work out the solution in the middle. But I wait the re-draft patiently and look forward to making LOTS of pairs in the future!

This was my first time following a sewing pattern. I found the instructions clear and helpful! I love the end result! This was my first time working on a creative project just for myself postpartum, and I found it to be such a happy and rejuvenating process!

I will say, this took me wayyy longer than 3 hours.

I can’t believe I waited so long to buy this pattern. Just finished a wearable toile in vintage synthetic upholstery fabric and the are just wonderful. For my next pair (currently in progress), I am using linen and only increasing the rise slightly. The crotch curve is perfect, the pockets are fun, and the top stitching looks so professional. I will never need another pants pattern. Thank you so much.

Very straightforward! Waistband was probably the trickiest bit, but loved the results. I have already made two pairs of the regular length (I'm 5' 8"). So chic and comfortable.

I really enjoyed the process and the (at least it was for me) new idea of splitting the leg in 3 parts. I really love the big pocket

These pants are SO cute & one of my first “more complicated” sews. Still, the pattern was simple to follow, clearly detailed and easy to execute & the definition of each paneled piece makes the look seem complex and thoughtful. I’m so pleased! I made a size 2: I am 5’1” and about 95lbs, which would typically put me at a smaller size but I prefer slightly baggier trousers. I cut my muslin draft to the “short” version of the pattern but decided to go with the regular for the final.

My favourite trouser pattern ever! Instructions are clear and the final product is a dream. I plan to make this in different fabrics. The extra large pockets are life! ❤️

I have never before had instructions so clear and easy to follow! I’m a novice sewer and my first attempt at these came out almost perfectly! The images and directions and tips were so helpful! One of the best patterns I’ve ever used!

The crotch to waist mesurement is massive and the legs are really short. Honestly I have pretty standard measurements but I had to adapt the pattern by cutting about 4 cm from the top of each of the side panels (between the crotch and waist) and adding it further down (at about the mid calf height(. The middle panel didn't match the length of the side panels. I thought I had sewn it together incorrectly then I measured the seams and they were just out by about 2~3 cm.
